Happy Easter! Happy Spring!

After months of freezing cold, driving rain, sleet, in some places feet of snow, wind blowing so hard that the snow is coming down sideways, and literally months below 32° temperature, spring has finally arrived! The first tips of snowdrops push through the Earth followed closely by the daffodils notifying winter her time had gone and spring was supposed to arrive . And arrive she did with howling winds, early spring tornadoes, 80° days dropping back into freezing nights, she notified the world that the taciturn days of spring were here.

The rebirth of the earth, and the rebirth of life tend to find themselves, at least for me, tied together in this powerful changing of the seasons. Just like the forcing of the snowdrop from the freezing cold earth, I have to force myself out of my warm, cozy, home, where I have been curled up writing, and back into the world.

My flowerbeds need tended, the grass will need mowed, the patio cushions require fluffing and the umbrellas will need put back on the patio. It will be time to plant a tomato and a pepper, and fill the flower pots on the porch.

Easter for most of us signals to those faithful and secular that Mother Earth is reborn again, spring is here and the cycles of life continue pushing ahead into the warmer lacidazical days of summer. So, wherever you are may you and yours find your way into the warmer, days of spring and into your garden. That’s where you’ll find me, notebook, tea and purple ink, feet up, writing.

I hope you find your place of rebirth and peace with warm sunshine on your back, the smell of spring in your window and a book in your hand.
