Monday Moments with M. G. #2

Monday Moments with M. G.

Good morning!

As I was writing this week, it occurred to me that the things I wish to share in this small space every week are numerous and encapsulate a fragment of the week at M. G. Lorraine Media LLC. I want to bring you on the journey so that you can share in the joy we share in bringing each work to you, our reader.

True, I write it but without our team, our hybrid publisher and their team, none of that would be possible. Not only do I write with unconventional or nontraditional methods, which my team understands, but the work may be years in the making before it finds its way to you.

I may have actually started the work concept over dinner and scribbled on a napkin or conceived a character while driving, cooking dinner, watching tv or reading an article. In fact our early reader series was conceptualized on the morning drive to a client and before the end of day there were 74 titles and I knew which budding writers (kid co-authors) that I wanted to talk to about helping to write the series and to develop characters and titles. It has been so fun; collaborating with these co-authors and watching them bloom has been the best experience. I hope you love the work when the first 5 debut this spring.

My team supports the work - all of it in a huge variety of ways - some overlapping and co-collaboratively; starting with our storyline editor, Carole. Her strong support and commentary strengthens the work and when necessary it helps to drive changes in the work for clarity and cohesiveness. In nearly all cases, no matter the work, adult, tween, early reader or baby board books, the team reads and comments so that the diversity of opinion brings the best we have to every work. This includes the new illustrator who we are supporting and will shortly debut his work in the “Antiquities: A Dorchester Sisters Novel” cover. All of the happens before it goes to our publisher for final editing and formatting. Making it truly our brand and our work but their incredible skill makes it a beautiful work in a final package.

Looking forward to an incredible year; thank you for coming along for the ride.

Until next week,
