Dr. Seuss was more than an adaptive writer, cartoonist and illustrator. He was a visionary. While there are often great writers of literature and also great artist, it takes a truly uniquely talented soul with gifted vision to take make few words (even the new made up words) and combine them into simple worlds, memorable characters, and game-changing poetry that will forever change the life and minds of readers of all ages.

Read Across America Day & Dr. Seuss Day | March 2, 2025 | Read your favorite Dr. Seuss tale today!

What would childhood be without these classic rhyming tales that threw us into reading in the early reading journey of new storytellers? The Cat in the Hat stories have encouraged generations of young readers to discover the joy reading, so they could enjoy other timeless treasures like Green Eggs and Ham, Fox in Socks, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, Horton Hears a Who, and even the tale of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Each young mind envisions their life as a lifelong reader and storyteller because they could experience the writings of Dr. Seuss or other great children's literary influences like A. A. Milne who brought us the Winnie the Pooh and his tales in the Hundred Acre Wood.

My love of reading started early with master creations of other authors. As their stories wove through new worlds and they described their tales with layers of imagery and adventure. Even now as a writer of romantic suspense, children’s early readers, and teen mysteries, I often review these beloved characters of my favorite childhood authors and draw strength and creativity from their work.

Thank you, Dr. Seuss, for encouraging generations of future readers and supporting lifetimes young writers so that more visionaries can be trained by your amazing poetry. We will forever be grateful for the places we have been. You taught us to imagine brighter, dream bigger, shatter the molds of the world around us and to create new ideas, dreams and worlds that are "outside the box" of the normal, expected and ordinary.

Thank you, Dr. Seuss, for bringing us along into the world of Cat in the Hat and for sharing all of your other stories. In honor of such great visionary, today (or whenever you are reading this) grab your favorite book, sit on your favorite chair, curl up with your favorite blanket, and jump in the amazing worlds he created with humor and joy. Have a great read!

Until next time,

M. G.
