Hello, November: Fall Days, Thoughtful Gifts, and Stories to Share

Hello, friends, and welcome to another Monday Moment! November has arrived, bringing that lovely overlap between autumn’s last golden leaves and the first thoughts of the holiday season. There are still fall days to enjoy, but gift lists are beginning to take shape. Before we hurry into everything that comes next, let’s pause for a warm drink, a good story, and a little inspiration.

One of the things I love about this time of year is the invitation to get cozy. A blanket, a comfortable chair, and a book can turn an ordinary afternoon into something to look forward to. And as we think about the people on our holiday lists, that same simple pleasure makes a wonderful gift.

Why Give a Book?

A book says, “I thought about what you would enjoy.” It can offer a quiet break from a busy day, introduce a new adventure, or give someone a story they’ll want to talk about long after the last page. It doesn’t need batteries, and there’s no assembly required—just a little time to open the cover.

Books also create opportunities to connect. Read a chapter together, choose the same title with a friend, or tuck a handwritten note inside explaining why you picked it. Buying a book supports the work behind the story, too. For an author, knowing that a reader has chosen to spend time with our words is a meaningful gift in itself.

Seven Books for Your Holiday Gift List

If you’re considering an M. G. Lorraine book this season, here are all seven titles, along with a few simple ways to make each gift feel personal. You don’t need an elaborate gift basket. One well-chosen book and a thoughtful finishing touch can be plenty.

·        Fossils — Pair a copy with a bookmark and a note inviting the recipient to set aside an evening for reading.

·        Antiquities — Wrap it with a small notebook where your reader can jot down thoughts, questions, and favorite passages.

·        Covered in Chocolate — Add a little chocolate or a packet of cocoa for a sweet, book-themed gift.

·        The Grocery Game — Tuck it into a reusable shopping bag with a favorite snack and a promise of reading time together.

·        Lost at the Farmers Market — Pair it with a small market-style tote or a handwritten invitation to a future farmers market outing.

·        Trapped in the Pumpkin Maze — Keep a little autumn in the holiday season with a pumpkin-themed bookmark or fall-colored wrapping.

·        Scavenger Hunt at the Falls — Include a simple homemade scavenger hunt to add an activity to the gift.

For someone who enjoys collecting books, consider giving Fossils and Antiquities together, or bundling a few of the other titles for a series of reading afternoons. You could even create a “book now, time together later” gift: wrap the story and include a note promising a shared reading session. Sometimes the time we give alongside a present is the part remembered most.

A New Place to Stay Connected

Speaking of connection, we have a new landing page to share! Whether you’re visiting for the first time or have been following along for a while, I’d love for you to stop by. Bookmark it as a place to return to and share the address with a friend who might enjoy getting to know M. G. Lorraine and our books.

A Little November Pause

As this new month begins, I hope you’ll leave room for a few unhurried moments: a walk through the remaining fall leaves, a conversation with someone you care about, or one more chapter before the day gets busy. The holidays will be here soon enough. For now, there’s still November to enjoy.

What book would you love to give—or receive—this holiday season? I’d love to hear what’s on your reading wish list. Thank you for spending this Monday Moment with me, and for making stories part of your lives and your gift-giving traditions.

Enjoy the fall days, make a little room for reading, and stay connected!

Until Next Time,

Signed M. G.
